Amazon Prime now available for $7.99 per month
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Hot Deals, Internet,
Amazon Prime is the best deal in tech, and now Amazon aims to make it's two-day shipping, Kindle Lending Library, and instant movie and television streaming service a bit more accessible with an alternate price structure. Amazon customers now have the option of paying $7.99 per month for a Prime membership, which some may find more palatable compared to the yearly $79 lump sum pricing. Obviously, paying for a year up front offers a 20% savings, but we're sure many will opt for the monthly payment interval. Some are calling this a direct shot at Netflix and Hulu, each of which also offer instant streaming of television and movies, however, both lack any sort of shipping option (or retail store,) or monthly ebook lending library.

You can now pre-order Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 PCs
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Hot Deals, Microsoft, PC / Laptop, Software,
Microsoft has just announced that, starting today, you can now pre-order Windows 8 Pro. The normal price for the disc is $199.99, but during the upgrade promotion period, the package will cost $69.99, a $120 savings. Upgrade pricing will be in effect through January 31, 2013. It's nice, but it's still a far cry from the $20 OS X Mountain Lion. If you want to get in on the upgrade pricing, head over to Amazon--you'll receive it on October 26th, the same day it is released publicly. If you'd rather to go a brick-and-mortar location, you'll also find similar offers at the Microsoft Store, Best Buy, Office Depot, and more.
In addition, you can now pre-order Windows 8 PCs from companies like Acer, HP, Sony, Samsung, and others.

StoryBundle launches its next e-Book pack focused on crime and thrillers
Posted by Ponzi Black Categories: Hot Deals, Misc. Tech,
We talked about StoryBundle back in August, when their first bundle launched with 7 Sci-Fi indie books. Now they're back with 7 more crime and thriller books.
The concept is still the same as last time. They take the indie game bundle model and bring it to ebooks. You can pay whatever you want for five DRM-free books, but if you pay more than the bonus price of $7, you get two bonus books. You decide how much to give to the authors, how much to give to StoryBundle to keep the business going, and you can choose to donate part of your purchase to one of two charities. That's good enough to make it our Deal of the Day.

Sell your iPhone to Gazelle for cash, send it after next iPhone release
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Hot Deals,
Do you plan on picking up the next-generation iPhone 5 on September 21? If you're currently rocking an iPhone 4S or iPhone 4, you can sell it for cash in order to help pay for your upgrade. This year, Gazelle is giving quotes on Apple smartphones that are locked in through October 1. That means you can head over to Gazelle right now, fill in the details on your current iPhone, accept an offer for it, and then send it to them after you pick up the next iPhone. That means you can get a guaranteed sale on your device without having to be without a phone while you wait for the next one to be released. Prices on the iPhone 4S range from $90-370 depending on storage capacity and condition.

StoryBundle: Pay whatever you want for DRM-free indie ebooks
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Hot Deals, Misc. Tech,
Do you like deals? Reading? Supporting a good cause? Here's something that's got all three in one.
StoryBundle is a new site that's selling indie bundles for whatever you want to pay. It's just like the indie game bundles you've heard about before, like Humble Bundle, and allows you to get five books (or, seven, if you go over the bonus price of $7,) that works on any ebook reader you have. That means that you can load 'em up on on your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Kindle, Nook, Android device, and just about any other ebook platform you can think of. You get to decide how much you want to give to the authors and how much you want to give to StoryBundle, plus you can donate part of your purchase to two charitable causes as well.
If you're looking for a cheap and easy way to get books for your tablet, smartphone or ereader, this is it. All these books are hand-selected by StoryBundle and they all have good reviews on Amazon, so you're getting quality reads.

Apple now selling refurbished iPad (2012) for $50 discount
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds, Hot Deals,
It sure took a while, but Apple is finally selling refurbished models of the new iPad (2012) for a pretty nice discount. All models sell for $50 less than the standard MRSP for a brand new model, so if you're okay with refurbished goods, it's a nice deal. You even get the one-year of AppleCare included, just in case anything goes wrong. Anyone gonna pick one up?
Be sure to read our iPad (2012) review if you're on the fence.

Sprint slashes price of iPhone 4S by $50, now starts at $149
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Smartphones, Hot Deals,
If you just can't wait until September 21 to get your hands on the new iPhone 5, Sprint just cut the price of the iPhone 4S by $50. You can now get a 16GB iPhone 4S for $149.00, 32GB model for $249.99, and the 64GB version for $349.99 with two-year contract. You've gotta get it directly from Sprint, though, as ordering directly from Apple won't give you the discount. Sprint is also still selling the iPhone 4, but the price on that one is still $99 for an 8GB version with no price cut to be seen. This is obviously in reaction to the news that Apple is set to introduce the next iPhone on September 12, which is set to go on sale on September 21.
